Things to Remember When Springing Forward

Much attention has been brought to daylight-savings time
with it beginning three weeks early this year. Many of you
will adjust your clocks ahead one hour before you go to
bed tonight... or perhaps tomorrow after you're late
for church :) Often you hear reminders to check
the batteries in your smoke detectors during DST. Not only
is that a good idea, but don't forget about your weather
radio too!

Make sure your NOAA Weather Radio is properly
connected to an AC outlet and that your unit's backup
batteries are fully charged. Also be sure to give
the test button a whirl to assure the radio is in working
order. If you do not own a weather radio, now is a great
time to consider picking up one. Although severe weather
can occur at any time of the year, springtime usually brings
more severe storms to our area than do the other seasons.

To learn more about how these radios can benefit you
and for programming information, visit the following link:

March is also Severe Storms Awareness Month in Kentucky.
Advance preparation is the key to keep you and your family
safe when severe weather threatens. Our friends at the
National Weather Service in Louisville have prepared an
excellent weather preparedness page that covers virtually
every weather scenario type:

That's all for tonight... tomorrow night I'll have a "super
blog" for you about my recent trip to Oklahoma at the
2007 National Severe Weather Workshop.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!
