This time of year it's hard to imagine warm weather like the run of warm days here in South Central Kentucky if you're from the East Coast, and I mean "The coast"!  Not 100 miles inland or even 25 miles inland but a few miles from the great Atlantic.

It's amazing how the ocean has spent all winter cooling down and there's this tremendous lag time that sometimes drags on until the end of June before the ocean finally gets the picture that summer has arrived. In our part of the country (Kentucky) there are no oceans but there is the bright March sunshine and the longer days that tend to bring springtime a lot sooner here than to folks in coastal cities. They tend to wear hats and coats all the way through mid-April.

In the fall it's just the reverse! It gets a lot colder here sooner, and summer tends to linger until mid-November in coastal regions. It's hard to say which I prefer..but for right now I'm enjoying the 70+ degree days and I can't say I miss shivering into the month of May where I used to live.
