Wireless Installment News Conference

Bowling Green, KYThe City of Bowling Green will be holding a news conference to announce the start of a wireless network on Thursday, May 8, 2008.  This news conference will take place in front of City Hall at 9 a.m.  Please join us for this event.

The City of Bowling Green has been working with BGMU and Cisco since November to set up a broadband wireless network, which lets city and public safety workers maintain a connection to the City's databases, from any location within the 35-square-mile city. The network will be tested and placed in production by zones.  There are eight zones that will cover the City.

The implementation of this system will assist public safety in multiples ways allowing for a quicker overall response to citizen’s requests and 911 calls.  Other City departments who work in the field will also benefit from this system.

The Cisco Mobile Government solution encompasses a set of products and partners that enable more efficient and effective decision-making for public safety and mobile workers, through the use of collaborative wireless mobility technologies.

Also, in the future, citizens will be able to access the internet at a few select parks.

City Hall is located at 1001 College Street.
