Governor Orders Flags to Half-Staff to Honor Sacrifice of a Kentucky Casualty in Afghanistan

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Gov. Steve Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff on Saturday, June 28, in honor of a Kentuckian who died June 19 supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

According to the Department of Defense, Captain Eric Daniel Terhune, 34, of Lexington, Kentucky, died while conducting combat operations in Farah province, Afghanistan.  He was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Twentynine Palms, Calif.

The governor has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Saturday, June 28, the day of interment.

Gov. Beshear encourages individuals, businesses, organizations and government agencies are encouraged to join in this tribute by lowering flags to half-staff.
