Warren County Schools Superintendent Dale Brown made the surprise announcement at Monday night’s school board meeting that he plans to retire effective Sept. 1. After nine years supervising a district that has exploded with growth, Brown said, “it’s time for a change.”

Two Republicans say they will run for the 32nd District Senate seat now held by Democrat Mike Reynolds. Mike Wilson and Ed Mills have filed with the Kentucky Election Registry and Finance Commission to begin raising money for the May primary. Reynolds, who won a special election earlier this year for the seat formerly held by Republican Brett Guthrie, said he would seek re-election.

The Bowling Green Independent Schools Board of Education considered five types of insurance coverage that the district presently lacks or has in small amounts. No vote was taken at the meeting Monday, but board members discussed with John Kernohan of Neace Lukens Insurance Agency the details of crime/employee dishonesty coverage, flood, terrorism, pollution liability and cyber liability.
