Today On Bowling Green TODAY
The Kentucky Fire Commission confirmed the awarding of $52,166.67 to the Russellville Fire Department on Tuesday. The fire department is applying for additional state commission funding that, if successful, would add up to a total of $125,000 to build a training facility at the site of the former animal shelter in Russellville. If built, the facility would enable RFD firefighters to practice in controlled burn scenarios without having to travel to Bowling Green. A few area businesses are closing their doors. In Bowling Green, Hollywood Video, L&S Pawn and Simply Furniture are scheduled to soon shutdown and, in Franklin, Food Lion closed on Friday as part of a company wide restructuring. The closures mainly are due to financial difficulties, which made those stores not profitable. However, the owners of Simply Furniture are closing their furniture store so they can concentrate on a new business – Hobby Crossing, a hobby merchandise store they hope to open this summer. Family and friends are helping to organize a bone marrow drive for Glenda Barrow of Bowling Green, who has mantle cell non hodgkin lymphoma. The drive will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Hillvue Heights Church. |
