Hilltopper Black Bag Classic Raises $4,000 For Charities
Bowling Green, Ky. - The fourth annual Hilltopper Black Bag Classic raised $4,000 for two charities. The April 19 event at Barren River Lake generated a $3,000 donation for The Dream Factory, an organization granting dreams to children with critical and chronic illnesses from the 10-county Barren River Area Development District. Another $1,000 was donated to the Mark The Shark Williams Scholarship Fund, which benefits a recreation major at Western Kentucky University. Students from James D. Smiths Recreation 306 Program Planning Course and Recreation 420 - Commercial Recreation Course at WKU hosted the bass fishing tournament, sponsored by the Bowling Green Convention and Visitors Bureau. Doug Akin of Magnolia won the $500 Big Fish of the Day prize. WKU student Charlie Orr won for the WKU Mens Hilltopper autographed basketball and Brenda Lane of Scottsville won the Pyrographed bass on Walnut Plate.
