Governor Orders Flags to Half-Staff on July 19
FRANKFORT, Ky. – Gov. Steve Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff on Saturday, July 19, in honor of a Kentuckian who died July 8 supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. According to the Department of Defense, Specialist William L. McMillan III, 22, of Lexington, died in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when his patrol was struck by an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. Specialist McMillan will be interred at Camp Nelson cemetery at noon this Saturday, July 19. The governor has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on that day. Gov.
