Today On Bowling Green TODAY
In response to concerns about the potential environmental impact from paint falling from the CSX bridge into the Barren River, the company said it would perform its own sampling. A group of concerned citizens, headed by David Garvin, said their own samples of the soil taken from under the bridge showed lead levels considerably higher than allowable limits. Garvin last week said the company appeared to ignore those concerns and that it was time to get environmental agencies involved. David Hall, CSX vice president of public affairs, penned a letter Tuesday to Bowling Green Mayor Elaine Walker saying the company planned to do the sampling. A colossal food drive is planned this month to help fill food bank shelves that empty almost as quickly as they are stocked. United Way’s Feed the Need drive is being conducted over the next few weeks in Allen, Barren, Logan, Simpson, and Warren counties, and the food collected in each of those counties will remain there. |
