Members of Bowling Green's downtown task force are asking for more support from elected officials and other organizations as it tries to promote the area and attract more people and more businesses downtown. It's also discussing ideas for this year's spring events--mainly street fairs, during which businesses sit up booths and sell merchandise around Fountain Square. Farmers receive only pennies from each dollar consumers spend on food. That fact is made worse by a slow economy and lower consumer demand. Farmers are hoping consumer confidence rebounds and demand picks up so the pennies from those grocery sales add up. |
