The environmental group PRIDE already has two potential partners for the planned sprucing up of the Louisville Road spur. One likely partner be the National Corvette Museum. The owner of TPM, a Bowling Green engineer and environmental services firm, also has expressed interest in becoming a partner in the cleanup project. The 2010 census will likely make Bowling Green the third most populous city in Kentucky as it surpasses Owensboro. But the population figures mean more than just bragging rights. Officials say a higher count translates into more money for local governments. Bowling Green Mayor Elaine Walker puts the figure at $2,000 per person in potential federal funding. |
