Skywatch40 Wednesday Evening Webcast 8-18-2010
Much of southern Kentucky was hit with drenching rains as ample tropical moisture and a disturbance moved through our area on Wednesday. Some locations, mainly east and southeast of Bowling Green, including Glasgow and parts of the Lake Cumberland region weren't too far from getting half a foot of rain! The Bowling Green airport also picked up a new daily record rain total of 3.23 inches. The threat of heavy rain has ended across South Central Kentucky. A few lingering showers are possible into the early overnight hours mainly to the southeast of Bowling Green. Expect much nicer day for our Thursday. Sunny and drier conditions are ahead along with temps warming around 90 degrees. A stray shower can't be completely ruled out on Thursday. However, rain chances increase again late in the week by Friday into the weekend with isolated to widely scattered thunderstorms possible. High temps remain in the lower 90s for the weekend with heat index values around 100. Early next week looks much drier, mostly sunny and high temps in the lower 90s. Meteorologist Jay Brandon |
