Architects and policymakers came to Bowling Green
this past Saturday to see why the city is gaining a
reputation for green buildings. The Kentucky Solar
Energy Society members toured the new Service One
Energy and Environmental Design buildings and
Richardsville Elementary school. The Service One
building is the first in the city to have LEED
platinum standards. A Kentucky Solar board member
says Bowling Green is in the front of the pack as a
place where solar energy and sustainability are taken
seriously.

The total personal income for Bowling Green’s
Metropolitan Statistical Area declined in 2009. The
report from the Bureau of Economic Statistics says
they look at sources of income including salaries,
interest payments, dividends, rental income and
government checks. The city estimated a
1.02 % drop with a total income a
little more than $3.6 billion dollars.
The US Census Bureau’s previous reports had shown an
increase in median household income not including
capital gains.
