Governor Steve Beshear announced Monday for the installation of 13 miles of temporary barriers along sections of Interstate 65. The first part will stretch for six miles from near the Munfordville exit going north toward the Hardin and Larue county lines. Seven other miles of this project still has not yet been determined. Kentucky Highway Transportation Cabinet spokesman, Chuck Wolfe, says six miles of concrete barriers should be installed before the end of the year with the project going out to bid in October. Wolfe also says the barriers will be in place until money is available to widen that section of the interstate to six lanes which could take many years.

All this week WKU freshmen are getting a head start on their college careers and learning their ways around campus and Bowling Green with M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan this week. A group pedalled through the streets Monday with WKU staff to get a feel for the community on the Big Red Bike Tour. Director of parking and transportation, Jennifer Tougas, says the tour also highlighted efforts by campus transportation and facilities staff to promote biking on campus. M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan will continue through Thursday with students learning about tradition, student organizations and campus services.
