The first round of unpaid leave for many state employees in early September will cause several area county clerks’ offices to shut down for the day. The Allen, Butler, Logan, Simpson and Warren county offices will close on Friday, September third because of the furloughs . The employees in these offices aren’t mandated to take a furlough, but the AVIS system will be down during the time. WKU is expanding its learning opportunities even further into China. Beginning next year, W-K-U’s department of Geography and Geology will offer a new study abroad program that focuses on China’s culture and environment. Western is home to the first Confucius Institute in the state and also hosts one of only nine Chinese Flagship Programs in the country. |
