Cregar Earns National Recognition
Bowling Green, Ky. — Following his career day last Saturday against Florida International, Western Kentucky University junior Chad Cregar has earned national honors from a pair of college baseball organizations. The Oxford, Miss., product was named one of Ping! Baseball’s Spotlight Performers of the Week, and was also a member of the College Baseball Foundation’s Week Six “National All Star Lineup”. The Hilltopper designated hitter finished 6-for-9 in the two games with four home runs and 12 RBI. Two of Cregar’s long balls were grand slams — one in each game — giving him 11 homers and three grand slams on the season. Cregar drove in a season-high seven runs in the opening game of the twinbill, going 4-for-5 at the plate with two home runs. He went 2-for-4 in the nightcap with two more homers, three runs scored and five RBI. For the series, Cregar hit .500 with a 1.500 slugging percentage and a .600 on-base percentage. He now has a team-high 47 RBI to go along with his 11 home runs. Thanks to his efforts last weekend, Cregar’s RBI total currently ranks second in the nation behind Florida Atlantic’s Mike McKenna. He also ranks 12th in the country in home runs. Most Popular |
