Long Wins Fourth Tournament Of Season At UK Bluegrass Invitational; Toppers Finish Ninth

Bowling Green, Ky. — Senior Brent Long keeps adding to the Western Kentucky University men’s golf record books by winning his fourth tournament of the year — a WKU school-record. Long took the playoff win over Brian Belden of Kentucky at the UK Bluegrass Invitational on Monday afternoon. The Hilltoppers finished ninth out of 17 schools at the tournament on the par-71, 7,013 yard course.

Long — who won three events during the fall season — used a six-over-par, 219 to take the medalist honors. Neil Horsley also finished in the top-15, tying for 12th. Horsley tied with four other competitors at plus 13. Alex Yost played as an individual in the tournament finished knotted at 34. He was 19-over-par for the tournament. Adam McDonald tied for 69th after firing a 242 for the three-rounds. Antonio Bruna and Justin Perry both finished the event tied for 73rd after posting a 244 for the invitational.

The Hilltoppers will take the links at the Robert Trent Jones The Shoals Course for the 2008 Sun Belt Conference Championships beginning this weekend.
