Rachelle Boucher Takes Player-Of-The-Week Honors After Walk-Off Blast
Bowling Green, Ky. — Western Kentucky University softball catcher Rachelle Boucher took home Player-of-the-Week honors handed out by the Sun Belt Conference on Monday after her performances for the past week. Highlighting the end of the week, Boucher smacked a walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh to give the Toppers a 2-1 victory and a sweep over South Alabama. The Hilltoppers currently have won six in-a-row and nine of their last 10. The sophomore bumped her average up 23 points for the week as she finished 8-for-18 over five contests. The Tampa, Fla., native also hit a two-run shot in game one of the series while finishing the game a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and three runs. For the week, Boucher batted .444 with eight runs, two homers, 14 total bases and a .778 slugging percentage with no errors made in the field. WKU looks to extend the winning streak this Wednesday with a doubleheader at Lipscomb starting at 5 p.m. (CDT). |
