Long To Play In NCAA Tournament For Second Time

Bowling Green, Ky. — Western Kentucky University men’s golfer Brent Long will make the journey to Columbus, Ohio, for the Central Region of the NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championships after the announcement came Monday afternoon. The Central Region will take place May 15-17 at the Scarlet Golf Course with the finals being held at the Boilermaker Golf Complex in West Lafayette, Ind., May 28-31.

The senior from Carthage, Tenn., is making his second trip to the NCAA Tournament — first after leading the Hilltoppers to the 2006 Sun Belt Conference crown, and medalist honors. During last month’s 2008 SBC championships, Long finished tied for third after holding the lead through a stretch of holes during second-round action.

The regional will consist of 27 squads and six individuals. The top 10 teams and top two individuals will advance on from the 54-hole regional event to the finals.
