Columbus, Ohio — Western Kentucky University men’s golfer Brent Long closed out his record-breaking career after finishing tied for 75th at the NCAA Central Regional held at the Scarlet Course.

The two-over-par 73 turned our to be the final chapter on a historic season and career for the Carthage, Tenn., native. After posting an eight-over-par and plus seven on the first two days of action, the Hilltopper found a way to put together his best round of the event on the final day of play. Long started the afternoon tied for 115th.

Long was able to turn some of the bogey’s in the first-two rounds into par’s and birdies — posting only one bogey and two doubles on the round. He fired four par’s on the afternoon and 11 par’s. The four birdies equaled the amount that his scorecard read for the first-two rounds.

Kevin Tway — who led after round two and is a member of Oklahoma State’s squad — won the central region posting a one-over-par for the event.
