
WKU’s McDonald Charges Into Top 20 On Final Day Of Kentucky State Am
Paducah, Ky. — Western Kentucky University’s Adam McDonald recorded a five-shot improvement Thursday over his score from the first two rounds on the final day of the 2008 at&t Kentucky State Amateur Championship, helping lift the sophomore into a tie for 13th place as the event came to close at the Country Club of Paducah. McDonald’s 1-under-par 71 gave him a three-round total of 223, just one shot out of finishing in the top 10. He started the day in a tie for 35th place. That’s where former WKU golfer Robbie Crockett finished after shooting a 229 over the three days, while incoming freshman Andrew Heiser followed moved up 11 spots into a tie for 42nd after posting a 74 in the final round for a total of 230. It was his second 74 in the three-day tournament. Justin Perry matched Heiser with a score of 230 for the event, with his best round a 2-under-par 70 on the second day. Tyler Sharpe won the event with a 211 total after carding a 71 in the last round, as he defeated Rick Cochran by a stroke. Ben Fuqua (214) and James Brown (215) were the only other individuals to finish the tournament under par. |
