Titans agree to terms with restricted LB Fowler
Nashville, TN - The Tennessee Titans agreed to terms with Dallas Cowboys restricted free agent LB Ryan Fowler on a multi-year contract. Upon receipt of the contract, Dallas will have seven days to consider the contract. During that seven day span, they can select one of two options - match the contract or decline matching, thereby making the contract with the Titans valid. “We think Ryan can compete for our starting middle linebacker spot and he has already proven to be an excellent special teams performer,” said Titans general manager Mike Reinfeldt. “We also like the fact that we are still getting a young NFL player, who has proven some things, but can continue to grow with our team.” A three-year veteran, Fowler (6-3, 250) has played in 33 NFL games with three starts, totaled 19 tackles and 38 special teams stops. Last season, he led the Cowboys with 24 special teams tackles in 16 games played. As a starter against St. Louis in the finale of the 2005 season (1/1/06), Fowler led the Cowboys in tackles with nine, including two for loss. As a rookie, he spent the majority the year on the active roster, but only played in two games that season. Fowler joined the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent from Duke in 2004. A two-time captain for the Blue Devils, he led the team in tackles for three consecutive years and finished third on Duke’s all-time career tackles list with 495. As a senior, he tallied 136 tackles and earned second-team all-ACC honors. |
