Bowling Green Municipal Utilities has received numerous phone calls from customers regarding a phone scam. Scammers seem to be targeting commercial businesses in our service area. Most
customers reporting the scam state that the caller ID says, "Boonville, MO". Scammers are
identifying themselves as BGMU and asking for payment via money orders or wire transfers to
avoid disconnection. Please take note of the following to avoid being scammed:
BGMU bills, late notices and disconnection information are relayed to customers via the
U.S. postal service.
BGMU does not accept wired money, nor do we call customers regarding disconnection.
If you are contacted by phone and question the validity of the person you are speaking with, please call our office at 270-782-1200 to verify the nature of the call.
