02/16/2007    Man’s Best Friend

That’s what has been said about our friendly four-legged companions, but why not put a new spin on an old saying?  I think a woman’s best friend would be more suitable in my case.  A day doesn’t go by without someone commenting about Radar the Weather Dog.  When I’m out and about viewers constantly approach me asking, “Where’s Radar?”  Normally, I jokingly respond that either he has the day off or he’s enjoying the weekend at the “doggy spa”, which in actuality both are true.  I’ve had viewers ask me at the gas pump, “Where’s the weather dog?” and in that case I can just point at his picture that’s plastered on the side of the Accuweather truck.  Better yet, over the weekend I was at the bowling alley and a viewer approached me and asked (you guessed it), “Where’s the dog at?”  I explained that I can’t take Radar the Weather Dog everywhere.  I was then quickly informed that if the dog can do weather, he surely can learn how to bowl- I did see that one coming by the way.  Nonetheless, people just don’t ask me about the weather, but the weather dog too. 

 Even though there are times when Radar and I are apart, we’re more often together than not and all over the community as well with our weekly segment, “Word from Radar”.  Any suggestions on places that Radar has yet to discover are appreciated, but not to worry I took him to the bowling alley the next day… for his segment not a game.
