Kentucky Mavericks basketball try-outs a success
The second round of open tryouts were held this past weekend with the Kentucky Mavericks and the turnout was a success. Talented players came to Bowling Green from across the country including players from USC, UK, SIU, TTU, WKU, Georgetown, and many others. All who participated (60+) worked very hard to try and get a spot on the team. On Saturday the three-time All American Jim McDaniels who holds WKU records for both single season (878 points) and career (2,238) scoring was on hand. Jim McDaniels who ranks as one of the best known of all former Hilltopper athletes and former ABA/NBA star made a guest appearance and took a moment to speak to the players. McDaniels spoke of the great opportunity the Mavericks team is for the players, the community and the sport. He received several rounds of applause from everyone present for his remarks and was very passionate about the team being here in South Central Kentucky. Afterward the Mavericks held a dinner gathering at a local hotel restaurant where all of the players trying out and the attendees were invited.
