Alecia Marcum, library media specialist at William H. Natcher Elementary School since the school opened in 1990, received the Outstanding School Media Librarian Award during the Kentucky School Media Association (KSMA) awards luncheon on October 4. The KSMA Outstanding School Media Librarian award is given to a professional of excellence; one who provides an outstanding media program, serves her local and state organization, and makes significant contributions to his/her profession.

Marcum, in her 21st year as a library media specialist in the Warren County school system, has a history of providing extra learning opportunities for Natcher students by bringing in authors and illustrators to speak to and inspire the students. Among the notables who have visited Natcher at Marcum's invitation are Goosebumps author R. L. Stine and Kentucky writers Paul Brett Johnson (The Cow Who Wouldn't Come Down, Farmer's Market) and George Ella Lyon (Come A Tide, Borrowed Children).

Marcum, a Warren County native, earned her bachelor's and master's degrees and her Rank I certification at Western Kentucky University.
