The Warren County Academic/Aquatic Center, which will provide a swimming and diving facility for student-athletes in all Warren County high schools, was unveiled July 30 with a ribbon-cutting and open house at the center on Lovers Lane. Located next to the Warren County Public Schools Central Office, the Academic/Aquatic Center will have many benefits for the school system and for Warren County citizens. The center will fill a void left by the closing of the T. C. Cherry pool that the high school swim teams had been using. Centrally located for all county high schools, the building will house a pool capable of holding swimming and diving competitions as well as locker rooms and two classrooms that will be used for the Gifted Education in Math and Science (GEMS) program. The pool will also be available for use by community members through Warren County Parks and Recreation, which will begin operating the pool August 1. The pool is accessible by handicapped individuals. A second phase of this construction project will include an expansion of the Central Office building.
Ribbon about to be cut by Warren County Board of Education Chairman Mike Wilson and Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce Chairman Todd Davis.
