Greenwood wins in regional tennis

Greenwood High School captured the 2007 regional championships in both boys' and girls' tennis. Both teams will compete in the state tournament beginning May 24 in Lexington. For the GHS boys' team, junior Robert Hall led the way by winning the regional championship in singles. Seventh grader Beck Pennington will also compete in singles for Greenwood at the state tournament. Greenwood will have two boys' doubles teams competing at the state tournament. Eighth grader Taylor Lindsey and freshman Rick Cordona make up one team, while sophomore Adam Edwards and junior Eric Wentworth make up the other. Junior Hallie Pennington led the Greenwood girls, defeating teammate Ashley Edwards to win the regional championship in singles. Edwards, an eighth grader, will advance to state competition. Also advancing for the GHS girls is the doubles team of eighth grader Jessica Adams and junior Delancey Sheldon, along with the doubles team of junior Andrea Clark and sophomore Mary Pennington.
