The Warren County school district, already renowned for its energy management program, will soon be home to two of the most energy-efficient school buildings in the country. New buildings are now under construction to replace the aging Bristow Elementary and Richardsville Elementary buildings, and both will be "net zero" buildings that will have zero net energy consumption annually. The buildings will have solar panels that generate electricity and will also utilize a number of energy-efficient design elements such as daylighting, geothermal heating and cooling, and Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) construction in order to reach "net zero". Plans call for the buildings to open during the 2010-2011 school year.
