Bailey Norris, principal of Warren East High School since 1997, has been hired as Director of District Wide Student & Support Services for Warren County Public Schools. He begins this new position in the district's central office on July 1. Norris replaces Randall Jackson, who left to become superintendent of Allen County Schools.
Norris is a veteran educator who also has work experience outside of public education. A native of Richmond, Ky. and a U.S. Navy veteran, Norris earned his bachelor's and master's degrees at Eastern Kentucky University. He earned his principal certification at EKU and his superintendent certification at Western Kentucky University. Before coming to Warren County as assistant principal at Greenwood High School in 1990, Norris taught in Madison and Pulaski counties and worked for five years in the investment business. He has also been a middle school principal in Paris, Ky.
In his new role, Norris will oversee school safety, food service and transportation, among other responsibilities. "I appreciate the opportunity to work with all the Central Office staff," Norris says. "Schools are so much more than just the faculty and students. I am looking forward to working with many of the 'behind the scenes' aspects of Warren County Schools and helping continue the excellent work of the people in those areas. I believe that my experiences in and out of education give me a little different perspective and I'll be able to contribute as the Warren County school district continues as a leader in the state."
A search will begin immediately to find a replacement for Norris at Warren East High School.
