Riley Miller, a sophomore at Greenwood High School, was one of four winners of the Jefferson Awards presented April 21 and sponsored by the Bowling Green Daily News and WBKO Television. Miller was recognized for her work organizing the Alex's Lemonade Stands that raise money for cancer research. Inspired to volunteer for cancer research after losing two younger brothers to childhood cancer, Miller has helped raise more than $87,000 through the lemonade stands that are set up in various Warren County locations. She is now a candidate for a national Jefferson Award. She received similar recognition in 2008, when she was honored with the National Prudential Spirit of Community Award.
